Lentils
Lentils direct seeded at Wes Wagner's farm near Farmington, WA.

Preplant RoundUp sprayed on spring wheat stubble on May 1st, 2008. Pardina lentils seeded on May 7, depth 1-1.5 inches and no treatment on the seed. Sprayed Prowl Sencor on May 15 and Poast applied on June 16th when this group of pictures was taken.

The emergence was very good except where the straw was too thick. Some of those heavy straw areas grew anyway after the week long showers we had in May. If bugs show up, I will spry again and probably use some kind of foliar feed. Finally, I will spray pre harvest to kill the crop and then cut them direct with the combine using a 30 foot MacDon 972 draper header. Past yields have ranged from 800-1500 lbs. per acre although this is the first crop of lentils I have grown on this particular field.
